Edmund Husserl’s Recompilations and Reconstructions in Traditional Epistemology

Kolawole A. Owolabi
Abstract

Many philosophers have always desired to resolve the issue of the conflict ideas in philosophy to a unity of thought. Especially in epistemology which is seen as first philosophy, and Edmund Husserl too took a special interest in this epistemic vision to arrive at a common ground for the many opposing ideas in philosophy and he proposes phenomenology as a remedy for this problem. His phenomenology was a revival of the Kantian Copernican revolution and an attempt to reconstruct philosophy following the Kantian and Cartesian spirit. And Husserl like Descartes proposes a return to the very beginning that is starting from the index of zero. The focus of this paper to analyze this epistemic enterprise of Husserl and to see how tenable his theory is and its implications for traditional epistemology.
