THE CATHOLIC VOYAGE : African Journal of Consecrated Life

Why are we discussing "signs of the time" and religious vocations? It is evident that religious life has shifted and is still shifting grounds. Our times have changed. The values that sustained ancient institutions are eroding and / or are being changed. Certain values also cannot be upheld because conditions for maintaining and nurturing them have changed or are no longer there. Religious institutes are recording numerous cases of unruly behaviours from their members, while formators are having challenges with candidates who come to their institutes.
