Augustinian pedagogy emerges from Saint Augustine's evolving thoughts about the nature of teaching and learning. Various texts written over almost 40 years: The Teacher (389 AD), Instructing Beginners in Faith (400 AD), Letter #118 (410 AD), and Teaching Christianity (Books 1 – 3 in 396-397 AD and Book 4 in 426-427 AD) suggest three movements in his thought that have relevance for contemporary educational theory and practice.
