Kenneth O. Sodje, OSA
Abstract

The continuous quest and drive to delve into the rational and empirical perspectives of reality in order to unravel the foundations and systems for a better harmonious living among people has always occupied a central stage in contemporary philosophical studies. One of these concepts is that of community. The term community has been perused and given different shades of meanings. The objective of this work is to consider how this notion of community in Edith Stein can be applied to communicate as an element for a harmonious existence among the various communities in the society. This work is not an exhaustive writing on the understanding of community but a perspective from Edith Stein to help give a new understanding to peaceful living together. In this work, the notion of community is considered, the rapport between the individual and the community is also noted; the various characteristics of community were also considered to enhance the level of understanding.
