This paper examines the naming practices in relation to address patterns among culture and the people across Northern Nigeria especially the Hausa community. Ninety data on address pattern were selected for the analysis using the anthropological linguistics as the approach in extracting the linguistic features embedded in Hausa address system. The names were selected through primary and secondary methods. The findings from this study showed that the appropriate address phrase depends on several variables including the interlocuters’ degree of respect and familiarity. The study concluded that Hausa address terms are gender sensitive, formal, culturally, socially, and politically loaded.
