INFORMATION COMMUNICATION AND TECHNOLOGY (ICT) AS A FUNCTIONAL PEDAGOGICAL TOOL FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING OF FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN IMO - STATE

Abstract

This study explored Information and Communication Technology as a functional pedagogical tool for effective teaching and learning of Financial Accounting in Secondary Schools in Imo State. The study employed a descriptive survey design as it is appropriate for a descriptive study. The population of the study comprises all the 915 financial accounting students found in all public secondary schools offering financial accounting in Imo state.The sample of the study was two hundred and seventy-four (274) financial accounting students drawn from six (6) public senior secondary schools offering financial accounting in Imo state using proportionate stratified random sampling to ensure adequate representation. Two research questions and four hypotheses were raised to guide this study and were analyzed using mean and standard deviation, hypotheses formulated were tested at 0.05 level of significance using z-test statistic. The instrument for data collection was a researcher-developed questionnaire titled “Role and Use of ICT resource Questionnaire” (RUICTRQ).
