It become imperative for strategic planning, efficient universities management of change and innovation for national transformation. The paper discuss the concept of strategic planning, concept of change management, change and innovation process in university for national transformation, utilization of strategic planning in university functionality. The paper further x-ray strategic planning process and universities management of change, the contrasts between traditional, operational and strategic planning, strategic planning approach for universities functionality, strategic planning goals for university functionality and importance of strategic planning for university functionality. The paper concluded that strategic planning should be adopt effective for efficient universities management of change and innovation for smooth transition of academic programmes for national transformation. Also change is inevitable and the most constant phenomenon in any world endeavor as a result of dynamism in human organization response to either internal or external demand or expectations. It recommend among others that every educational managers should adopt effective strategic planning to boost their institutional productivity
