Abstract

This study explores the Calvinist perspective on justice and its impact on the Nigerian Church's engagement with societal issues and pursuit of cultural renewal. Methodologically, a combination of primary and secondary sources was employed, and qualitative data analysis was conducted. The Protestant tradition, particularly Calvinism, emphasizes the authority of scripture and the sovereignty of God, influencing societal engagement and understanding of justice. In Nigeria, the Church's role in promoting justice is crucial, yet it faces challenges of perceived inactivity and alignment with political elites. Calvinist perspectives on justice emphasize equality, restoration, and reconciliation, aligning with the Church's potential transformative role in Nigerian society. Embracing these perspectives can position the Nigerian Church as a catalyst for positive societal change, cultural renewal, and justice pursuit.
