Abstract

This study was to investigate the extent of integration of information and communication technology in lecture delivery by economics education lecturers in Nigerian public universities. Three research questions guided the study and three null hypotheses were tested. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population of the study consist of 220 engineering lecturers. A 30 items structured questionnaire which was face validated by two experts was used for data collection. Test retest method was adopted in establishing the reliability of the instrument and data collected was analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Co-efficient which yielded index of 0.78, 0.66 and 0.83 for clusters A, B, C and an overall index of 0.67 considered reliable for the study. Data gathered from the study were analyzed with mean and standard deviation to answer the research questions while z-test was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Findings of the study indicated that engineering lecturers integrate computer, internet and multimedia facilities at a small extent. Gender was not a significant factor on the extent of integration of computer facilities, but it influence integration of multimedia facilities in lecture significantly. The researchers recommended among others that government should ensure adequate provision of ICT resources/facilities for use by both students and lecturers
