This paper is titled “nwanekunwa influence on the education of a child: interpreting Gilligan Carol ethics of care within African philosophy of education”, is all about the influence of nwanekunwa on the general academic performance of a child. However the academic of any child will be appreciated more on the teaching and learning - education of a child as one expands the theory by Gilligan Carol within the context of African philosophy of education. Nwanekunwa is an Igbo concept meaning a child that nurtures a baby. It is an old traditional Igbo practice where a child is brought into a family for the purpose of minding or nurturing another child. This paper tries to evaluate the possible challenges as well as the babysitter’s consequential influence on the academic excursus of the child. The question is, ‘can a child look after a child?’ Can a child train a child? What we do here, can it in anyway be likened to what is obtainable globally? The researcher among using available data and dwelling on the domains of learning theories discovered that nwanekunwa level education affects the child in question. The researcher recommends that the educational background of the nwannekunwa should matter greatly in accepting any for one’s child. Otherwise, there should be cautious attention on nwannekunwa’s influence on the education of the child being looked after.
