This study set out to investigate the perception of Big Brother Naija Reality Television programme and Uyo resident’s perception of the programme. This study adopted survey research method using sample size of 400 based on Taro Yamane formula drawn from the total population of 522, 389. Data were also generated with a 25-item questionnaire. A total of 400 copies of questionnaire were distributed to residents of Uyo Metropolis and 388 copies of questionnaire were found useful for the study using a simple random sampling technique. The results show that reality television programmes are produced with educational contents meant to teach the audience skills being performed or perfected by the contestants and the programmes helps audience members to learn things about other people and their culture. The study concludes that reality television programmes have serious influences on audience members as they desire to be like the people they watch in the programmes. Therefore, it is recommended that since reality television programmes enable audience members to learn things about others when they watch contestants in the programmes, producers must ensure that reality television programmes aired on Nigerian television stations are those capable of impacting positively on the life styles of Nigerians. Also, the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) should be more alert towards checking the activities of the Nigerian media especially the broadcast media so that the media do not fail to recognize and preserve such values.
