PEACE EDUCATION FOR THE SOCIALIZATION OF THE CULTURE OF PEACE

Abstract

Contemporarily, the issues of vibrant educational consciousness for meaningful human and societal developments have been indispensably linked with the advocacies for the Culture of Peace. Its conditions projected always the elimination of the currencies of conflict-driven socialization. Hence, with this paper and many other researches on peace education and development, we greatly observed that many communities are still in the mucky waters of violence and conflicts, and these conditions are demanding heavily on the human persons to re-address the contents of their lived experiences in order to well position the developmental contents of their present and future socialization. Such concern owes that, it is only when the human persons are adequately and holistically educated that integral humanism duly obtained. The paper focuses on the pedagogical reorientation of the human persons who are subjects of lived experiences, especially on the demands of the Culture of Peace as against the Culture of War. This paper suggests the adoption of principles of integral humanism which considers the wholeness of the human person in every development policy or initiative for the elimination of the Culture of War and other forms of violent conflicts in our societies, and which indispensably presupposes the adequate and integral educational formation of the human persons.
