This paper examines the distinguishing features of Standard English from other varieties. Through a nuanced analysis of linguistic features, discourse patterns and social contexts, the study sheds light on the complex relationship between language and society. By investigating the tension between standardization and variation, this paper aims to contribute to a deeper understanding of the role of language in shaping social relationships and highlights the importance of recognizing and valuing linguistic diversity, thereby promoting inclusivity.
