This paper examines the role of African International Organisations (AIOs) in promoting economic development and integration within the African continent with focus on the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the African Development Bank as case studies. The work assesses the strategies, achievements and key issues militating against these organisations in carrying out their mandates. The specific contributions of ECOWAS in advancing regional trade, security cooperation, free movement; and AfDBs impact through its financing facilities, private sector initiatives and human capital development are examined. The aim of the work is to provide valuable insights into the effectiveness of sub-regional and continental bodies in fostering sustainable growth and deeper integration while pointing attention to areas requiring possible improvement and better collaboration among member countries. The study employs the qualitative methodology. Data are gathered from secondary and primary sources including, policy documents and stakeholders interview available on the news media. The qualitative research methodology allows an in-depth understanding of the issues regarding these multilateral organisations promotion of economic development and integration in the continent. Findings indicate that while the AIO's efforts at promoting economic development and integration in the continent have yielded some positive results, they are still confronted by interplay of certain dynamics impeding implantation of their mandates. It is thus concluded that AIOs have remained significant in promoting economic development and integration in Africa. It is recommended that talented young African graduates should be engaged by these organisations to enhance their activities and relevance to the people's needs.
