ÉTUDES CONTRASTIVES DE LA TRADUCTION ANGLAISE DE L’OUVRAGE DE SONY LABOU TANSI FACE À LA VERSION ORIGINALE L’ANTÉ-PEUPLE
This study is a comparative analysis that focuses on elucidating the translation issues regarding the similarities and differences between Sony Labou Tansi’s L’Anté-peuple and Jim Underwood’s English translation, The Anti-people. To thoroughly analyze the comparison between the two texts, the study adopts a contrastive linguistic analysis, a branch of applied linguistics that is concerned with the comparison of micro-systems of two or more languages. the study posits that this comparative study, based on the translation from French to English, creates a solid empirical basis for mastering not only the structures of the language but also the culture from which the original text originates and the ethnic particularities of the same linguistic community.
