The complement designates a syntactic aspect in a sentence predicate which functions as a complement. In this article, we examine the various aspects of complement that is problematic to Igbo-speaking learners of French. This present work therefore aims at pointing out these various points of linguistics similarities of complements in the both languages. Our research will therefore help to facilitate the learning and teaching of French as a foreign language. Our approach, which is descriptive in nature, is based on Chomsky's theory of principles and parameter. Our results discovered that the French language and the Igbo language share some similarities, for example: both languages use pronouns to replace complements (noun phrases), which can function as subjects or objects in a sentence. Finally, we suggest that Igbo-speaking learners need to understand the diversity of French complements and their uses, taking into account it's differences with the Igbo language.
