Artificial Intelligence (AI) has rapidly emerged as a disruptive force across various sectors, and education is no exception. The development of AI has led to a multitude of innovation with profound implication for various aspects of human life. Currently, there is a paradigm shift in learning methods and for that, within the education system, there are evidence of changes in the teaching and learning method. The incorporation of AI into the curriculum of Igbo Language will help in the reshaping of the learning methods and the functioning of educational institution. Therefore, the AI – powered tools and resources in in the teaching and learning of Igbo language will help by tailoring learning experiences to individual students, automating administration tasks, and providing instantaneous feedback. The availability of AI – powered tools and resources in the Igbo language classroom, will aid in the transformative shift, promoting inclusivity and fostering a more efficient and effective learning environment. This paper therefore focuses on the teaching and learning of Igbo Language. AI technological powered tools and resources, emerging issues in the teaching and learning of Igbo Language for economical development, AI teaching techniques to be adopted by the Igbo Language teachers, problems associated with the use of AI - powered tools and resources. It also concludes that for effective incorporation of AI – powered tools and resources for sustainable economic development in a technology driven world, the government needs to employ qualified teachers as well as ensure professional developmental plan that will facilitate the retraining of teachers especially in the areas of AI;
