A THEOLOGICAL REFLECTION ON THE TWO PULPITS: VIRTUAL AND PHYSICAL
The mission to proclaim the Good News is the responsibility of all Christians as commanded by Christ. By virtue of our baptism which is the foundation of our journey toward God, we are privileged to continue the work of Christ in proclaiming the Good News on earth. The content of faith has been the same in every generation. It is never in flux but the way through which the Gospel message of salvation is transmitted from one generation to another often changes. It always responds to the signs of the time to meet people from where they are. Each generation uses what is obtainable to augment the traditional mode of face-to-face communication of the Gospel message. In this present digital age, the virtual pulpit is employed as an extension of the physical pulpit in communicating the Word of God to all people on a massive scale, while maintaining the integrity of the Gospel. This new digital mode of communication brings about an integral change in the mentality and attitudes of people, especially in the Catholic Church in Africa.
