The research examines St. Augustine's theological teachings through his exploration of sin alongside redemption principles as they relate to present-day moral problems in Nigeria. Natural issues of corruption and violence together with social injustice challenge Nigeria effectively while Augustine's theological teachings create a deep framework for understanding and resolving such concerns. The author begins with Augustine’s explanation of sin as God-turning to different directions then focuses on human accountability in handling moral situations. The analysis follows with an evaluation of grace which demonstrates its extraordinary ability to transform people individually and collectively. Through his experiences of redemption Augustine provides inspiration to Nigerian Christians dealing with comparable challenges as presented by several stories about personal growth.
