ENGELBERT BEYER, M. AFR
Abstract

With the prevalent divergence on the doctrine of justification between the protestant and Roman catholic faith, which is a problem of synergism, that is, God and man working together towards attaining justification or Monergism in which God alone is active and man passive, The joint declaration resulted to unity in the fundamental truths on justification. This paper therefore sets out to show how this declaration represents a step towards a consensus between the Lutherans and the Roman Catholics.
