WITCHCRAFT, CAUSALITY AND THE AFRICAN WORLD

C. O. UROH
Abstract

In an attempt to unravel the concept of Witchcraft, some scholars are of the opinion that the phenomenon is a “fantasy” that can only exist in the mind of mentally unstable people. Others in another camp hold tenaciously to the position that Witchcraft is a reality that has come to stay of which every African must have to reckon. Following from the above, this article sets out to state that believe in the phenomenon of Witchcraft is absurd whether it finds an explanation in the cause and effect principle of empirical science.
