This literary piece presents us with a critique of Nkrumah's 'consciencism' as an ideology for post-colonial reconstruction in Africa. For Nkrumah, philosophy is not an independent discourse with determinant subject matter of problems, rather it is an intellectual weapon in the ideological struggle between contending social groups in a society. However, from the conclusion of this paper Nkrumah conception is not totally correct because the ideology is riddled with contradictions largely because Nkrumah attempted to identify ideology with philosophy.
