ENVIRONMENTAL EPISTEMOLOGY AND AI-DRIVEN CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION& ADAPTATION: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES

Daniel Aseer Kwaghgande
Abstract

Climate change poses an existential threat to global health and stability, necessitating Cinnovative solutions from diverse disciplines. As the world grapples with the escalating climate crisis, traditional methods have proven partially effective, prompting the exploration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a vital tool in climate change mitigation and adaptation. This research examines the intersections of environmental epistemology, AI and climate change mitigation and adaptation, examining the opportunities and challenges that arise when these fields converge. The work examines how AI can enhance climate modeling and prediction, optimize energy consumption and production, support sustainable resource management, facilitate climate-resilient infrastructure development and aid climate change adaptation and resilience. Employing historical, expository and evaluative methodologies, this research provides a comprehensive background to climate change and underscores AI's crucial role in mitigating and adapting to climate change, evaluating challenges and limitations. The work submits that a deeper understanding of the relationships between environmental epistemology and AI will enhance a deeper collaboration among scientists, engineers, policymakers, and industry experts to leverage AI-driven solutions effectively to combat this pressing global emergency
