PHILOSOPHY: A PATHWAY TO SYSTEM-BUILDING IN A FRACTURED NATION

Columbus N. Ogbujah
Abstract

System’s building is at the heart of every meaningful growth in all facets of human endeavour. Without system-building, societal cohesion and progress would be left at the whims of irredentist ideologues whose adulations are for personal and personalized interests and goals. This paper identified the myriad challenges facing Nigeria as exemplified in political, educational, and social structures, and observed that the lack of a functional system is at the base of the numerous problems beclouding the nation’s growth. It recognized the invaluable role philosophy plays in grounding societal activities under institutional structures in general, and maintained that as the pathway to system-building, the application of philosophical principles into national institutional frameworks is perhaps, the only way for the fractured nation to crawl out of the present quagmire.
