This work made an exploration into the synergy and interconnectedness that are operative between language use and ideology in the movie, Black November, a genre which has been understudied hitherto by linguistic scholars. As qualitative research, this study adopted as its primary source the movie Black November. The method of data selection is purposive sampling in which the researcher carefully selected various discourse with embedded ideologies. Against the backdrop of Reisigl and Wodak’s Discourse Historical Approach (DHA) and Dell Hymes’ Ethnography of Communication (EoC), this work examined selected forms of discourse in the movie in order to explore embedded ideologies in meaningful, context-dependent utterances. The study, therefore, unveiled that the different ideological inclinations of the interlocutors emanate from the sociocultural, economic and political factors prevalent in the society in which the movie is set.
